About Grady E. Smith

cropped-gradyesm1.pngDr. Grady E. Smith is a native of Minden, Louisiana. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, a Master’s Degree from Louisiana Tech University and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from The University of Phoenix. He has also completed other studies at Louisiana State University in Shreveport and Harvard University.

In 2007, Grady became the youngest African-American to become an administrator in Webster Parish as he was appointed Assistant Principal at Springhill Jr./Sr. High School. In Springhill, Dr. Smith was one of the leaders in cleaning up discipline at one of the toughest high schools in the state. He reached out and helped connect the community to the school. By doing this, Dr. Smith was very instrumental in the African-American community and enjoyed helping several first generation males graduate high school and enter college.

Grady is a lifelong member of the Mt. Zion CME Church in Minden where he has served as musician and currently serves as Vice-President of the Steward Board. He is also President of the Gamma Omicron Chapter of Omega Psi Phi in Minden.

Dr. Smith has one daughter, Keegan Janae Smith of Shreveport. In his spare time, Grady enjoys sports especially football, listening to music and being in the company of good people.
